Official Council survey shows Kingston dirtier under LibDems

The results of Kingston Council’s annual resident survey shows a big increase in litter related concerns since the LibDems took control.

The number of responses highlighting ‘Rubbish or Litter lying around’ as a big/fairly-big problem, increased from 26% in 2017 to 38% in 2019.

Since 2015, when the percentage of residents who thought litter was a big/fairly-big problem was 23%, the official Council survey results for litter concerns have remained fairly stable. However, the big increase in resident concern comes at the very same time as the LibDems took control of Kingston Council and the street cleansing service.

Cllr David Cunningham, Conservative spokesman for the Environment, said:  “It’s very disappointing that the LibDem-run Council isn’t keeping our streets clean. In all of the years that the same survey question has been asked, the number of residents concerned about litter has never been so high. The quality of service is going down, at the very same time that Council Tax increased by 5% in a year.”
