Coombe Hill Police confirmed that Coombe Hill ward is the second safest ward in London. However, Cllr Rowena Bass & Cllr Ian George know that crime prevention is still a key issue for local residents.
The Conservative ward councillors for Coombe Hill ward have:
- Produced and delivered a Police update leaflet to the ward.
- Produced and delivered a Police and Council information card to the ward.
- Arranged for the delivery of a Coombe Hill Neighbourhood Watch Crime Reduction booklet across the ward.
- Made the Police website more accessible - www.coombehill.info
- Attended all Ward Panel meetings, and liaised with residents, to agree local Policing priorities.
- Held a public meeting to discuss local concerns.
- Arranged for new Neighbourhood Watch signage—coming your way soon.
- Financially supported the local Oxygen charity who work with local youth to offer youth clubs, and targeted interventions around issues including knife crime.
- Successfully campaigned for the introduction of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras on our stretch of the A3, as the area was being targeted due to a gap in coverage.
- Represented local residents and highlighted their concerns at the Police Safer Neighbourhood Board.
- Campaigned for more Police in Kingston, with more being allocated in coming months.
We are lucky to live in a relatively low crime area, but we would urge all residents to be vigilant and sign up to Met Engage (www.metengage.co.uk) to receive updates and crime prevention info and get invites to future police meetings to help set local policing priorities. Current Coombe Hill Police priorities are to focus on burglaries, theft of/from motor vehicles and antisocial behaviour.
