Ian and Rowena have worked closely with residents for several years to tackle traffic conflict issues in Manorgate Road to improve pedestrian safety, whilst ensuring that there is no negative effect on Wolverton Avenue and the access to nearby Kingston Hospital.
Thanks to over 90 residents of Manorgate Road, Carlisle Close and Wolverton Avenue who responded to our ward councillor consultation last year, giving feedback on the traffic options for their roads. A summary of the responses was provided to the members of the Kingston & North Kingston Neighbourhood Committee so they could be fully informed when taking their decision. The formal consultation carried out by Ian and Rowena followed confirmation that Kingston Council would not carry out their own consultation prior to the decision being made. The survey results can be seen here.
In line with resident survey results and council traffic modelling, the neighbourhood committee agreed to implement a trial partial one-way system in both Manorgate Road and Wolverton Road, to be reviewed after 6 months. Traffic modelling has shown that there should be no noticeable impact locally.
