LibDem mismanagement over the Kingfisher Leisure Centre: 7 years on and hundreds of thousands of pounds wasted

Kingfisher Leisure Centre Closed

Kingston’s much loved Kingfisher Leisure Centre was closed in 2019 by the LibDems, with a promise to build a replacement by autumn 2023.

Seven years on, and residents are still waiting. The LibDem council ended up shelving their poorly thought out initial plans, wasting  hundreds of thousands of pounds on external consultants. The new plans include virtually no parking.

This has had a huge impact on local families, with many children missing out on swimming lessons and exercise. Not all families can afford expensive gym memberships.
