Government hands Kingston £8.5million Covid-19 funding for local services

The Conservative government has announced further funding for Kingston residents, to help with emergency services provided by Kingston Council and local charities.

£3.2billion is being made available for local Councils, with Kingston receiving an initial grant of £3,708,264 followed by a more recent payment of £4,816,390. The total local funding boost of £8,524,654 is over and above the £billions of national funding to protect businesses/jobs and support the NHS.

Cllr Kevin Davis, Leader of the Conservative Group, said: “It’s great to see the Conservative government provide much needed support here in Kingston. With the many £billions being made available for national measures supporting the NHS and other frontline services, it is easy to forget that local services play a crucial role too. This new funding will give a boost to frontline services and support those who need it most. This includes helping the homeless, supporting vulnerable people and providing support for public health workers.”
