Achievements as a Councillor

Since 2006 Nick has been the lead member for the Scrutiny panel reviews of the executive decisions on The Rose Theatre (Twice), removal of the low and moderate Eligibity Criteria for Sociol Services , The Housing Revenue Account and Closure of one Day Care Centre (Hobkirk House).

We have brought the executive to account on major issues effecting the most vunarable in the community. While we have not been able to stop the closure of the Day Care centre we have caused the Executive to set up reviews of the future of the Housing Revenue Account after we identified its near financial colasp and failure to meet the repairs and renewels of people homes. We also made sure that the voices of residents of Hobkirk House were heard.

Nick proposed the council motion to save Hobkirk House.

In his ward he has chaired a working group of Residents from Ellerton and Bond Roads with Ward Councillors, Council Officers and The Nieghbourhood Police Team. The aim is to reduce the levels of anti sociol behaviour experineced by residents. The group has met several times and seen progress on each occasion. While it will take time to deal with all the issues it does show that community action in partnership with all the stakeholders can work.

Goals as a Councillor

The challenge of delivering quality services and keeping the council tax is down is a goal for all conservative councillors. The LIb Dem Administration is dreadul in this respect.

I have two further goals;

1. looking at how with the same resources we can actually give better services and make sure we give wider access to everyone and

2. Solving the funding problem of our sociol housing that is penalising our Tennants and those who lease homes from the council unfairly. East London residents are treated better than people in Kingston.
