Lib Dems would not upgrade libraries
Conservative-run Kingston is transforming all of its libraries by installing new technology and creating flexible community spaces.
But, as reported in the Surrey Comet, Lib Dem leader Liz Green criticised the move as “an awful amount of money when we don’t have it” and suggested that the Lib Dems wouldn't have made the investment.
Kingston Library will be the first of the seven libraries to have a makeover, with improvements including the incorporation of the children’s library into the building. Others will follow over the next two months.
Cllr Andrea Craig, Cabinet Member for Heritage, Arts and Leisure at Kingston Council, said:
The benefits of this investment will be felt for years to come. We know that our residents are keen library users, so enhancing these key community spaces is essential. I hope that even more residents and visitors take the opportunity to discover all that is on offer in our newly-transformed libraries.
