e-mail is indeed the Modern approach, but lets see someone,
not that it matters regards my vote,, has already been put ipost for both Local and Parliamental. The good old days were where one
truely made contact, street corners, markets, stations, grand
meetings in Town Halls. You got the feeling of the people.
Realise that to-day situation more complex, both couples at
work and commuting, that why it is important to reach them at
train/ bus termini.

David, We agree on Humps. As for the two lanes on Kings Charles Road Bridge, this is being reviewed by officers at the moment and we will wait for that review to be completed. There are issues for Cyclists, Drivers and Residents and I am pleased to say that at the Neighbourhood meeting when this was discussed, all interested groups are keen to make it work for everyone involved.

Jonathan, Your ideas are noted. Our PPC Helen Whately has been working with Cllr. Howard Jones on the re-zoning of Surbiton and that is an ongoing campaign. We will as Southwest Trains about the Network Card!

Peter, There is much more to be done on recycling and you are right about the types of plastic and we will work to increase the amouth recycled to 60% if not more.

At last a political party willing to confront the thorny issue of Council Housing in the borough.

The “Liberals” have achieved nothing in the six years since the attempt to stock transfer in 2004.

I urge all tenants and leaseholders in the borough to vote Conservative on May 6.

The Lib-Dem’s attitude towards the Mayor’s Permit Scheme for controlling major road-works is deplorable and can only be Party Politics.

It makes sense that all Public Utilities should co-ordinate their road-work schemes and so reduce the chaos which exists in many London Boroughs, including Kingston-upon-Thames.

Let us hope the Conservatives re-gain control of the Council and inject some degree of organisation into future road-work schemes.

I would like to see the council decision of recycling grade 1 & 2 plastics fully enforced. At the moment ony an arbitary selection as decreed by the Environment Dept is allowed to be collected. This results in 80% of my 1 & 2 being thrown in landfil colection. It’s an utter waste and makes nonsense of recycling. All plastics that can be recycled carries the special mark and it is easy to see what is marked 1,2,3,4 etc. Incidentally it is curious that some collectable/recycling items on the departments list do not carry the ’1′, in particular, recycling mark. Support zone 5 for Surbiton not only on a local level but on a national level, and support the return of the Network Railcard with a min spend of £5. Only those ideas will promote train use.

Removing the humps will get you a lot of votes They are not “green” as they cause a lot of damage to cars – even going much slower than 20 mph. They are also very dangerous for motor cycles. They mean that the entire journey from where I live to Kingston Hospital is at 20 mph and humped – no fun in an ambulance.

Will you also restore the 2 lanes across the bridge at the end of King Charles Road?

This statement means that under a Conservative Government, our local A&E and Maternity unit will be safe. The SW London Healthcare Review will be halted. That doesn’t mean there’ll be no further consideration of how healthcare should be provided in this area – that would ignore changes in the way clinical care can best be provided and also in what people want. But in future, decisions about local NHS services will be made by local residents and GPs. It will be up to us to decide what we want locally, and then funding will follow.

So does that statment mean yes conservatives will fight to save Kingston A & E and Maternity…The question is not about the fate of the whole hospital its about A&E and Maternity…… personally i feel i need more clarity on this subject…it felt a bit shrugged off…yes we will get rid of the reveiws…and replace them with…??

Re : Government Care Plan announced today (I had to write in on this)

We met at the Surbiton Community Plan, you may remember I referred to the need for informal volunteering along the lines of the Elmbridge Care plan (ie not driven by Bureaucracy and empire building officers with certificated schemes which are wholly inappropriate to those who help out on a friendly basis because they want to without career ambitions, driven by compassion in our community). The Elmbridge system which benefits the elderly through help with shopping, getting to hospital, sorting out reliable cleaners and gardners etc., was set up by a local doctor.
It works and it is far better for the user than bureacrats who tick boxes….. look at what the government is now proposing to help the elderly survive in their homes – through an ill thought out grandiose scheme which will be run by more bureacrats who dont care, and will cause more financial hardship for the vulnerable – or damage the NHS.
