The Rose Theatre

December 3, 2009  |  News, Rose Theatre, St James

Many residents are angry about having to fund the Rose Theatre through your council tax. While we think the Theatre is good for Kingston in principle, in practice it has been mismanaged and taxpayers have been mislead. The Lib Dems have broken their promises not to use tax payers’ money to fund it.

The public money invested in the Theatre has now exceeded £11 million, over £70 per resident. The continued subsidy by the Lib Dems of the Theatre is money we believe could and should be spent on other areas of need in the Borough such as elderly care and housing.

We would like your views on this issue and if elected will establish a referendum to gauge public opinion on this divisive issue – we will respond to the majority view.
